General criteria for receiving United Way funding

In order to be eligible to receive United Way funding, the applying agency must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • provide services to Guelph, and/or Wellington County, and/or Dufferin County;
  • be a registered charity and incorporated;
  • have a volunteer board of directors;
  • release audited financial statements each year;
  • be non-partisan; and
  • be in operation for at least one (1) year.

 

Current Funding Opportunities

United Way is currently seeking applications for one-year funding to support programs in Orangeville and Dufferin County.

All applications are due February 16, 2012. 

 

One-Year Program Funding, Dufferin

Purpose:

  • To provide short-term funds to support a program that responds to a critical community need and is facing a financial situation which could lead to a reduction in service.

Eligibility:

  • Programs must meet basic eligibility criteria as outlined above.
  • Programs must provide a social service that falls within one of United Way's priority funding areas:
    • providing basic needs
    • creating a better community
    • reaching children & youth
    • reaching individuals & families
    • promoting health & independent living
    • providing support for seniors
  • Programs must respond to a critical community need that:
    • is NOT currently not being adequately addressed by any other local program or service; and
    • if not continued, has the potential to negatively impact the well-being of people living in our community. 
  • Programs must demonstrate that they currently face a financial situation that could result in a loss of service.

Assessment Criteria:

  • Negative impacts are highly likely as a result of the sudden loss or interruption of the program or service.
  • Poor resource management or planning was not a factor in the current financial situation.
  • The agency’s board of directors has demonstrated support for the request for funding.
  • A clear and realistic plan is in place to move forward with the program after United Way funds have been expended.
  • United Way funding is needed to provide clients with uninterrupted access to the program.

Terms:

  • Limited funding is available for a one-year term, from April 1, 2012 - March 31, 2013.
  • Funding may only be used to support the goals of a discrete program.
  • Agencies must agree to the terms outlined in the Agency Inclusion Agreement.

Applications:

  • Those considering applying are encouraged to contact United Way before submitting a request to ensure their program is eligible for funding.
