Responding to Our Community

We know the need, and support the local programs that WILL make a difference.

Raising the Funds

The United Way runs the single largest annual community fundraising campaign in Guelph & Wellington County. In 2008, we raised $2,601,000 for this community. Of these dollars, 59% was raised through employee donations in the workplace campaigns; 21% came from corporate donations; 11% came from individuals through our direct mail campaign; and 9% came from special events. 19% of the total campaign dollars came from Leadership Donors (those who gave $1,000 or more).

Supporting the Right Programs

We provide funding to programs addressing needs identified by our Social Planning Department and delivered by registered charitable organizations.

The process of choosing which community programs to support is a challenging task – every year, funding requests exceed the amount of money raised. The United Way review process ensures that every dollar is distributed to where it will do the most good, currently supporting over 80 local programs.
