New Funding Allocated to Agencies in Guelph, Wellington and Dufferin County

Includes new funding grants and per annum allocations
 
The United Way of Guelph and Wellington is pleased to announce new funding grants and per annum allocations to agencies throughout Wellington and Dufferin County.
 
These allocations include:
 
$10,000 per annum funding for the Guelph Enabling Garden

$5,000 one time grant to Onward Willow’s Better Beginnings Better Futures’ Youth Room
Onward Willow-Better Beginnings, Better Futures is a network of neighbourhood and community organizations that is committed to building and sustaining the Onward Willow neighbourhood group, strengthening individuals and families, and ensuring healthy growth and development for every child.
 
$10,000 one time grant to First Light Theatre’s Anti-Bullying Program
First Light Theatre is a theatre company for young people designed to augment traditional education experiences by providing students with opportunities to learn, experience and perform, helping them to become confident communicators and community contributors.
 
As well, the Dufferin Allocations Committee has allocated almost $20,000 to five agencies serving Dufferin County.  This Committee is a group of volunteers from the county who determine the allocations of funds made available by those United Way donors who have asked that their donations be designated to agencies in Dufferin County. 
 
$6,000 to the Upper Grand Learning Foundation

This program trains students in cosmetology and directs them towards future apprenticeship opportunities.  The expected outcomes of this program include keeping students in school who may not otherwise do so.
 
$2,550 to Community Living Dufferin
Funding will go towards Rolling Hills Children’s Place which will offer programs for children who have or are at risk of having developmental delays.
 
$4,625 to the Orangeville Coping Centre
Funding will go towards peer support groups for those who are coping with the recent death of a loved one.
 
$3,337 to Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Dufferin & District
Funds will go towards the In-School Mentoring Program providing high risk children with a caring mentor who meets with them one-on-one for one hour a week at local schools.
 
$4,000 to Dufferin Parents Support Network
This agency encourages, educates and supports parents of school-aged children by providing opportunities to build positive parenting skills and healthy community connections.
