Research also taking a closer look at the needs of new Canadians
Our social planning staff continues its research on this year’s categories of community needs including: children & youth, families & individuals.
This research, which includes secondary data reviews and a survey distributed to 122 agencies throughout Guelph and Wellington County, will produce reports specific to areas such as:
- Population
- Family income
- Poverty
- Child care
- School readiness
- Physical activity
- School life and youth dropout rates
- Abuse, violence, and crime
- Parenting trends
This year’s research is also taking a closer and more focused look at the needs of new Canadians including settlement needs. As part of this research, the United Way, along with an alliance of service providers, will be administering focus groups with New Canadians in seven or more languages. This research is scheduled to be completed this fall.
