Message from the Executive Director - Ken Dardano

Wow!  It certainly has been exciting since I took on the role of Executive Director at the beginning of this year. I’m amazed at how much is going on in our communities. I feel honoured to be part of our United Way as it continues to provide support through the sharing of both financial resources and knowledge.  The success of this organization, and in turn our community, is a testament to the great people who live and work in Guelph and Wellington County.  Through the support shown to our organization by hundreds of volunteers and thousands of donors, it is evident that we serve a community that cares!

I have begun my new role by meeting with as many funded agencies as possible so that I can have a deeper understanding of the services that they provide and the challenges they are facing.  I am currently planning a meeting for all Executive Director’s of our funded agencies where I can better articulate our relationship and how we can work together to meet the needs of our community.

Our organization is hard at work as we plan the 2008 Campaign.  We are looking forward to working with this year’s Campaign Chair, Dr. Alastair Summerlee, and the rest of the volunteers who will make up this year’s Campaign Cabinet.  Recently, Dr. Summerlee invited local business leaders to join him for breakfast as he discussed the importance of our United Way. Thank you to all who attended: we look forward to meeting with you and other business leaders in the next couple of months to discuss how they can join us in strengthening this year’s campaign.

I would like to thank everyone for welcoming me to my new role. I look forward to working with you as we strengthen our United Way, and in turn our communities. Thank you for your support and commitment!
