If the 2007 campaign continues at its current rate, the United Way of Guelph & Wellington will not be able to raise as much money as it did last year. In other words, our United Way will not be able to fund any new programs and will therefore not be able to close the gap in funding that exists in this community.

This low projection for the 2007 campaign is mainly the result of corporate restructuring, labour negotiations, and economic uncertainty that is facing several workplaces throughout Guelph & Wellington County.

Since the United Way announced this shortfall last week, individuals and organizations in this community have responded by making a donation or by increasing their annual gift. Because of this support, the shortfall is getting smaller, but we still need your help.

The United Way of Guelph & Wellington is seeking help from local businesses and individuals in the community who are able to address the challenges currently facing its annual campaign.

Here is how you can help:

• If you haven’t already done so, donate.
• If your workplace doesn’t hold a campaign, let us know and we can help you get one started.
• If you are a commuter, make sure to designate your United Way donation to this community.
• Spread the word about the needs in our community and how United Way is helping to meet those needs.

Hundreds of individuals and businesses throughout this community have already shown great support to the United Way Campaign this year.
