City of Guelph employees contribute over $50,000 to United Way fundraising campaign
Employees' fundraising efforts continue to surpass past contributions
Throughout the City of Guelph's eight-week corporate fundraising campaign, employees raised a total of $54,463 for the United Way of Guelph and Wellington.
Raising $600 more than last year, this year's employee-led fundraising initiatives included a barbecue kick-off event, payroll deductions, used book sales, a homemade chilli lunch event, bake sales, and a jack-o-lantern carving competition.
"City of Guelph employees will help make it possible for the United Way of Guelph and Wellington to reach its $2.65 fundraising goal and ultimately support over 80 local programs," said Jennifer Hall, Campaign Manager for the United Way of Guelph and Wellington. "This group of employees really is making a difference in our community."
Over the past 11 years, City of Guelph employees have donated over $500,000 to the United Way of Guelph and Wellington.
The United Way of Guelph and Wellington is a volunteer-driven, charitable foundation focused on meeting the pressing social needs in Guelph and Wellington County. The United Way supports and engages the community through social planning, fundraising and fund distribution.
